I’m very excited to be part of Type Tasting at the V&A for the 2013 London Design Festival!
My chosen word is ‘Festival’. I was inspired by my love of vintage signage and type, especially that found in 19th-mid 20th Century street and building signs around London. I chose to display it as bunting, using colours and materials that signify the excitement, eclecticism and cacophony of sights, sounds and emotions found around London.
Once again Sarah Hyndman has curated an exciting project inviting people to join in and create a piece of typographical / lettering artwork for a word based on ‘London’, which will be on display at the V&A 14-19 September 2013. The aim is to get away from the computer and get back to rolling up your sleeves and having fun with different materials. Other participants include Ralph Steadman and Alan Kitching!
You can drop in anytime to view the display (10am-5pm daily during the exhibition). There will also be 2 workshops held on the 14th and 15th during which you can pop along and have a go at creating a word yourself. There’s no need to book and it’s a free event. I’ll be helping out on Saturday 14th so I might see you there!
